- Begin by taking a CD and spray-painting it black (be sure to do it in a ventilated room or outdoors).
- While you are waiting for the CD to dry (read spray paint instructions for drying time), use your Exacto knife or scissors to cut out two triangle shapes for the beak out of yellow craft foam.
- Once the CD is dry, use your marker to outline two round eyes and paint in with white paint and allow drying for about 15 minutes. When the white paint is dry, use your black paint to outline the eyes and add a black dot to the center of the eyes. Let stand until completely dry before continuing to avoid smearing the paint.
- When completely dry, spray with a finishing gloss spray. Now you can hot glue your beak on with the top piece slightly higher onto the CD. You can then use your marker to add details to the beak.
- Using your black foam, cut a circle larger than the CD to place on as a backing. Take a small loop of jute and glue to the back of the CD as a hanger, then glue on the black backing to make it nice and tidy.
- Lastly, take your half straw hat and glue to the top of the CD and decorate with sunflowers. This makes a nice Spring or Fall project.
