- 1 1/2 cups ground cinnamon
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1/4 cup white glue
- Water (if needed)
- Plastic wrap
- Rolling pin
- Wax paper
- Cookie cutters or a knife
- Ribbon or yarn for hanging
- Straw
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon, applesauce, and glue. The dough should have a consistency similar to cookie dough. If it is too stiff, add a small amount of water to make it more pliable.
- Knead the dough for a few minutes, then cover it with plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
- After the dough has rested, remove it from the bowl and knead it again until it is smooth.
- Roll out the dough between two sheets of wax paper until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use cookie cutters or a knife to cut out shapes from the dough. Use a straw to punch a hole near the top of each shape for the ribbon or yarn to be threaded through.
- Carefully transfer the cut-out shapes to a clean sheet of wax paper, and leave them to dry for 3-5 days. Turn them over a few times each day to ensure they dry evenly and flatten out.
- Once the ornaments are thoroughly dry, thread a piece of ribbon or yarn through the hole and hang them up. Enjoy your fragrant, homemade decorations!
