candlejars
  • Preserve jar clean and dry
  • A heart cutout from card stock
  • Acrylic paints in red or blue and white
  • Wide soft brush
  • Old toothbrush
  • Finishing spray
  • Glue stick
  1. Glue the heart cutout lightly to the jar with a glue stick.
  2. Using a wide soft brush, apply an even coat of red or blue paint to the outside of the jar. Allow to dry.
  3. Apply a second coat of paint, brushing in the opposite direction of the first coat. Allow to dry.
  4. Dip an old toothbrush in white paint, then splatter the jar with white paint by pushing back the bristles and letting them go. Repeat until you get the desired effect.
  5. Use white paint to outline the heart cutout.
  6. Remove the heart cutout from the front of the jar and clean up any glue spots with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol.
  7. Apply a finishing spray to the jar and allow it to dry.
  8. Once dry, you can place a lit tea light or candle in the bottom of the jar, which will give a light hue of the color of your jar. This adds a wonderful atmosphere to a darkened room.
