• 1 1/2 cups ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 cup white glue
  • Water (if needed)
  • Plastic wrap
  • Rolling pin
  • Wax paper
  • Cookie cutters or a knife
  • Ribbon or yarn for hanging
  • Straw

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon, applesauce, and glue. The dough should have a consistency similar to cookie dough. If it is too stiff, add a small amount of water to make it more pliable.
  2. Knead the dough for a few minutes, then cover it with plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. After the dough has rested, remove it from the bowl and knead it again until it is smooth.
  4. Roll out the dough between two sheets of wax paper until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Use cookie cutters or a knife to cut out shapes from the dough. Use a straw to punch a hole near the top of each shape for the ribbon or yarn to be threaded through.
  6. Carefully transfer the cut-out shapes to a clean sheet of wax paper, and leave them to dry for 3-5 days. Turn them over a few times each day to ensure they dry evenly and flatten out.
  7. Once the ornaments are thoroughly dry, thread a piece of ribbon or yarn through the hole and hang them up. Enjoy your fragrant, homemade decorations!
