Sewing

Materials: Snowman Pin

  • White felt
  • Red and black embroidery thread
  • A scrap of fabric for scarf
  • A button
  • Pin backing
  • Cotton balls
  • Hot glue and gun

Cut two pieces of white felt for body in a pear shape then blanket stitch together with red embroidery thread and stuff with cotton balls before closing. Make two “x” with black embroidery thread for eyes and two straight stitches for mouth. Tie a small scrap of fabric around neck and glue into place. Glue on pin backing and allow drying time. Then you can use my graphics as a pin card to give it a finishing touch. You can find the backing here:

Materials: Country Mitten Scrap material

Button

Embroidery thread and needle

Ribbon or string

  1. Start by cutting out two mitten shapes from your scarp material.
  2. On one mitten shape hand stitch a tiny square scrap to front and sew a button in the middle.
  3. Then with embroidery thread blanket stitch the two mitten shapes together leaving the top open as a pocket.
  4. Tie a string or ribbon to one side to hang it from.

These add a country flavor to any home and maybe filled with treats at Christmas.

 Upsy Daisy Stick

A great little “thinking of you” gift to cheer up a friend who may feel like things are upside down and crazy!

Materials:

Fabric scraps
Cardboard
Needle and thread
Wooden dowel
Green, white and black acrylic paint
Wooden furniture finishing plugs circles
Finishing spray
Optional tiny ladybugs or leaves (bought in pkgs. At Wal-Mart)
Hot glue and gun

1.  Start by making your yo-yo’s with scrap fabric and inserted with cardboard circles. One 1 ½ inch in diameter and one 3 inches in diameter.
2.  Paint the wooden plugs all green then add the eyes with white and black dots. Allow drying.
3.  When dry apply a light finishing spray.
4.  Paint dowels green and spray with finishing spray. Allow drying.
5.  Hot glue the small yo-yo into center of larger yo-yo circle.
6.  Glue little green face to center of smaller yo-yo and you end up with a 3D effect.
7.  Glue dowel to back of flower head.
8.  Add leaves or ladybugs along stem.
9.  Then you can add a cute poem like this one Shirley and Craftsayings came up with for me.
